On 14th December, 1916, 19th London of 141 Brigade, 47th Division, moved into the front line in the Hill 60 sector in the southern half of the Ypres salient where they remained until 19th December. This sector was always fiercely contested by both sides and the artillery duel here was a constant factor. The Battalion Diary provides no other information for the 16th December other than mentioning the death of three men, one of whom was George Maguire.
